Pty Ltd for the issuance of "Outdoor and Close Proximity Pyrotechnics Skill Set" training course delivered by us. KC'S Fireworks Displays Aust. Pty Ltd provides the student all the training and assessment support and services whilst applying the RTO's policy and procedures.
The course will teach you how to become a professional fireworks operator. You will work one-on-one with world-class instructors and practice your skills by creating a real, full-scale, fireworks display. This is a life changing experience.

HBTA are offering the opportunity to learn the art of fireworks displays from international fireworks experts KC’s Fireworks Displays.

The HBTA and KC'S Fireworks Displays Aust. Pty Ltd “KC’s Outdoor Pyrotechnics Skill Set” Fireworks Training Course will teach you how to operate as a professional fireworks technician in Queensland and where so licensed, throughout Australia.
During the course, you will work one-on-one with world class instructors over the 3 day course and practice your new skills by creating a real, full scale, fireworks spectacular - launched live in front of a crowd of spectators. Be invited to assist at real fireworks shows.
Upon successful completion, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment by our partner, Healthy Business Training Academy, RTO number 30831, for the following units of competency:
CUAPYR401 Manage Health and Safety Requirements at Fireworks Displays
CUAPYR402 Operate Outdoor Fireworks Displays.
CUAPYR404 Operate Close Proximity Fireworks Displays.
 

Important!
This course does not automatically entitle you to hold a license to conduct fireworks but it is a Queensland Statutory Legal requirement that a Nationally Recognised Fireworks Training Course must be successfully completed by a person prior to applying to become a Licensed Fireworks Technician. Successful students may then apply to their State Authority (in Queensland it is Department of Natural Resources Mines and Energy (DNRME) for a License. Applicants for a License will need to undergo and /or hold the following:
• Current recognised First Aid Certificate
• 18 years of age or over
• Photographic proof if Identity
• A recent full medical examination report
• In Qld, the DNRME also require as a part of the licensing process a full National Police Check and Security clearance of all license applicants, see DNRME website for details.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The HBTA "Outdoor and Close Proximity Pyrotechnics Skill Set" course is the most extensive fireworks course in Australia. It is 3 very full days, plus pre reading, of fireworks training a Cert IV Level and the course is accredited in Qld. You will learn:
• Fireworks safety, risk management, transport, and handling procedures
• How fireworks are made, how they work, types, specifications, etc
• Operating & planning outdoor and close proximity fireworks displays
• Manual, electric and choreographed fireworks firing systems
• Setting up all styles of fireworks displays and multi-media events
• Setting up in all types of weather and climates
• Setting up floating platforms
• Insurance, permits, and event management
Upon successful completion, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment from Healthy Business Training Academy, RTO number 30831.



And it's not just classroom training. There is plenty of hands-on practical training and on the last day of the course, you practice your new skills by creating a real, full-scale, fireworks display.

Course Details

Provider: KC's Fireworks Displays Aust. Pty Ltd partners with Healthy Business Training Academy RTO #30381 for the issuance of the accredited training delivered by us.

Course level: Upon successful completion, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment by our partner, Healthy Business Training Academy, RTO number 30831, for the following units of competency:

Units: 
CUAPYR401 Manage health and safety requirements at fireworks displays.
CUAPYR402 Operate outdoor fireworks displays.
CUAPYR404 Operate close proximity fireworks displays.

Elective units may vary between locations, delivery modes and intakes.

Course Cost

The full cost of the 5-day course is $3500.00 +GST AUD and includes all books and materials plus a generous allocation of fireworks (worth approximately $1200 at KC's Fireworks pricing) for practical training and the "Festival of Fire" practical show night

Course Requirements

Please contact us on (07) 5494 5089 to speak to a trainer. While there is no mandatory prerequisite for this course, it is highly desirable that you have previous experience in the industry.  
  • Students entering this course must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Fireworks contractors must be a minimum of 21 years of age and must 3 years of fireworks experience
  • All applications are subject to a current Police check

What do I get for my $3500?
You get 3 very full days of training with Clive Featherby (and other fireworks and event management professionals) who has more than 30 years of fireworks and special effects experience. We don't know of any other course that offers that kind of experience-based training. Plus you get a generous allocation of fireworks (valued at over $1700 at KC's Fireworks pricing) for practical training and the "Festival of Fire" practical show night, plus an extensive 190 page A4 course manual, plus other books and materials needed for the course.

What do I need to bring to the course?
Please Bring:
  • Casual clothes for classroom
  • Protective clothing: overalls preferred, otherwise long sleeved shirts and jeans/trousers. 
  • Closed footwear
  • Safety glasses
  • Ear plugs or ear muffs
  • Personal stationary (pens, notebook/paper, etc)
Is this an accredited course?
Yes, this is an accredited course in Queensland and the course level is a Cert IV level. 

Do I get a job after the course?
The course teaches you how to operate as a professional fireworks operator in the fireworks industry. On completion of the course, you are then qualified to apply to the Dept of Mines & Energy for a fireworks display operator's licence and work as a licensed fireworks operator within the fireworks industry. Please note: When applying to the Department of Mines & Energy for your licence, conditions apply such as a medical and police clearance.

Plus, being a licensed fireworks operator is a highly skilled profession with many employment opportunities in Qld and across Australia, as there are hundreds of fireworks displays conducted every year in every State.
