AT KC'S FIREWORKS DISPLAYS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AND REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT. WE ARE GUIDED BY THE PRINCIPLE OF REDUCING, REUSING AND RECYCLING WHEREVER POSSIBLE, IN ALL ASPECTS OF OUR OPERATIONS.
Like many other organisations, we generate waste, however our intention is to create no landfill by recycling and e-Wasting packaging and end of life products.
We truly believe that adopting sustainability measures is not just the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense.
We have developed and implemented a range of practical initiatives in our workplaces that have and will continue to reduce any impacts on the environment. These are outlined in our policy and include:
• Recycling in all aspects
• Waste reduction and minimization
• Solar Electricity/lighting (office)
• Water consumption
• Fleet vehicles –low fuel consumption and reducing C02 emissions from vehicles via car pooling
• Use of energy-efficient electronic equipment and power saving
• Use of green power, renewable energy and geothermal energy.
Our logistics headquarters is located on a beautiful 20 acre property at Sippy Creek Road Tanawha on the Sunshine Coast which is flourishing with native flora and fauna including gum trees, Ghost gums, Ironbark, Paperbark, Tallow wood trees, cockatoos, kangaroos, and yabbies, and many types of snakes, lizards and butterflies.
More than 2000 native trees are currently planted on the property including more than 600 mature eucalypts, which offsets close to 400 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Our carbon footprint is currently at approximately under 100 tonnes per year nationally. As the remaining trees reach maturity and new plantings continue this, along with our current waste reduction initiatives, will ensure we continue to offset our emissions into the future.
When building our fireworks facility we engaged experts in the solar energy field and we are currently installing systems to operate over 90% of this facility on solar powered energy.
